Adaptions to Homes & Schools

Adaptions to Homes & SchoolsWe adapt our environment constantly to meet the demands placed on us. Technology is an adaptation which can support a child or young person’s improved access to education. Our priority is always to make life easier for children and young people and we do this by assessing and recommending equipment and adaptations to promote access, independence and safety in the home and at school.

In Schools

We give advice to teachers and staff about the impact a child’s / young person’s difficulties will have on their education and learning.

This may include how to make the school / college more accessible and recommending equipment to increase independence and aid learning.

When more substantial modifications may be necessary, we can provide advice and support to ensure that a child or young person is able to continue to access their education of choice, to support achievement and attainment and to help maximise your child’s potential.

At Home

We will work with parents and carers to identify whether adaptations are needed to support a child / young person and how to meet their current and future needs.

Sometimes it may be a case of making small changes or adaptations to help a child / young person get around more easily. In more complex cases, we can recommend specialist equipment which will support the whole family unit. Our primary aim is to help children and young people to develop greater independence in the home, in preparation for independent living, as appropriate.

COVID-19 Update

During these uncertain times, we are keen to keep you up-to-date with our service provision, which as you can appreciate is changing daily.

For reassurance CTS have set up a ‘Best Practice’ policy to ensure all our Occupational Therapists and Office Staff are working to the highest standard at all times; where ever we are based in the UK.

We are currently NOT seeing families at our designated CTS Clinics conforming to the recent request 23rd March 2020 @ 2030hrs from our government and NHS.

CTS are wanting to reassure you that we are highly committed to you and your child’s OT needs are cared for. We appreciate a lot of our families and service users are vulnerable and many have EHCP’s in place. As a service this requires us to ensure we continue to safeguard and meet the welfare needs of our service users effectively.

We are now providing alternative therapy to continue to support children, families and in some cases parents. We are using your appointment times and making contact via phone calls, conference calls, emails, Zoom and or Skype to support Telehealth Interventions.

Letters are being sent out to all our service users to reassure our commitment.

Please be reassured that all staff are taking every precaution to support our country in preventing the spread of this virus.
