Elvie - Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Hello, I’m Elvie.
I started to develop a keen passion for sensory processing and nervous system regulation during my Occupational Therapy Masters 5 years ago.
I’m currently training in Level 2 Sensory Integration Therapy, and look forward to starting level 3 soon in order to be a fully qualified SI therapist.
My journey into this field is deeply personal—I’ve experienced sensory processing difficulties myself, which gives me a real understanding of how powerful sensory-informed support can be. It also means that I am able to have a diverse understanding of what might be happening for a child who is struggling with sensory regulation and develop personalise strategies to support function.
Before joining CTS, I’ve worked in various mental health settings and in a school for children with learning disabilities, where I developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed care. Before training as an OT, I was a mental health and metal capacity advocate, giving me an appreciation of client voice, and the skills to support individuals to get that voice heard, even when it might be difficult to communicate.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m also a qualified yoga teacher and love using breathwork and somatic practices to help regulate the nervous system and support emotional wellbeing.
I’m passionate about creating safe, nurturing spaces where children feel seen, understood, and empowered to thrive.
I use a strength-based approach and am keen to redefine the lens by which we view neurodiversity and sensory challenges, appreciating the gifts it can bring to a child, as well as the challenges.
