This is a Screening Clinic (know in the medical profession as a triage clinic) to help support you and your child to help reduce your waiting time and pathways in the Statutory Service. 

This service is to help families whose child's diagnosis is not clear or ‘you just can’t put your finger on it............but they are just not keeping up with their friends or finding school life really difficult’.

First Stop Clinics are based either at your school or CTS clinic.

Accessibility 

Referral is either direct by you or through the GP service. (Ask your GP the possibility of being referred).

Process 

Before your clinic appointment you will receive a confidential questionnaire about your child, their development and areas of concern.

At the clinic a highly expert Paediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) Specialist will meet with you and your child to discuss and assess the query over your child’s capabilities. 

The OT will help you to identify any areas of difficulty and needs and offer further help by:

Next steps 
No needs identified which means your child does not require further support or
 Simple advice & problem solving information may be provided to help you and your child, with no further support or 
Your child’s needs may be monitored with a review at school or home which can be agreed by your GP or your self to use CTS Services or
Specific Occupational Therapy needs will be highlighted to provide effective information which will enable and support the  Statutory OT service in having an understanding of the essential areas of need further assessment and Interventions required.
Direct referral to specific Healthcare Professional services or other specialist services. Whether through the Statutory or Private services.
Further specialised assessment and treatment by CTS can also be accessed.

Screening Report
You and your GP will receive a written summary outlining what was discussed, observed and the recommended outcomes  discussed with you and your child at the clinic. 

The summary report can also be directly sent to the individual statutory services which your child requires further support from.
